Module 3 – Writing a CV
What is a CV for?
A CV or resume is quite simply an advert' to sell yourself to an employer.
The purpose of your CV is to make you skills attractive, interesting, and worth considering for an interview with the company.
You need to remember that a CV will not get you a job; a CV will get you an interview for a job.
An employer may have several hundred enquiries about a single position and they will only choose a few people whose CV matches the position that they are interviewing for. Picture yourself as a busy manager in the employer's office. They may have to read through 100 CVs in half an hour, and will have two piles - maybes and maybe not’s.
To make sure that your CV is in the maybe pile you to need to tailor your skills, experience and qualifications to that one position that you are applying for.
